BEING THE PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE VICE CHARMAN OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS’ (NANS), OGUN STATE AXIS IN COLLABORATION WITH STUDENT’S UNION PRESIDENTS OF VARIOUS INSTITUTIONS IN OGUN STATE.
Preamble
In reference to the letter sent to the Department of state Security (DSS) on the 17th of January, 2017 which stipulate the foreseen plans of some unscrupulous hungry elements.
A kangaroo Pre – convention was held today, 21st of January 2017 at Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH) whereby only three (3) Authentic SUG Presidents with one (1) Students Union Caretaker chairman were there present without making a quorum which is unacceptable constitutionally.
In lieu of the above, the Majority Students’ Union Presidents of the following institutions:
Olabisi Onabanjo University
Federal Polytechnic Ilaro
Cooperative College Ijeja
Federal College of Education Osiele
Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic Ijebu Igbo
Tai Solarin University of Education Ijagun
Hereby, with constitutional backing ratified that
1. The Pre – convention with four authentic senators out of Ten recognised senators which did not meet the requirement of forming a quorum is hereby said to be unacceptable and declared non and void
2. That the letter sent to the office of the DSS which was signed by the NANS Ogun state axis Vice Chairman, General Secretary and the Assistant General Secretary was been done with the consent of the listed SUG presidents which made it clear that No Institution without Students Union Body will be allowed to partake in the NANS Convention (Election).
3. The Senators has unanimously proposed the date and venue of the NANS Ogun State axis Convention to;
Date: 11th February, 2017.
Venue: Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo.
4. Saying CAPITAL NO TO STATE GOVERNMENT INTERFERANCE IN THE FORTH COMING CONVENTION
IT IS EASIER TO BLEED THAN TO SWEAT, IF WE FOLD OUR ARMS THE FUTURE OF OGUN STATE STUDENT’S IS AT STAKE, WE HEREBY CALL ON THE ATTENTION OF THE PUBLIC AND STAKE HOLDERS OF OUR GREAT ASSOCIATION TO TAKE NOTE BEFORE INJUSTICE RAPE OUR LIBERTY.
