..Says it’s in negotiation with authorities over NYSC,Law School for graduates
…As 103 among 20,799 graduating students bag First Class

ABUJA – THE National Open University of Nigeria,NOUN, Tuesday, said it had suspended admissions into its Law programmes.
This was even as it disclosed that it was in high negotiations with some agencies of governnent with a view to clearing ways for its graduates to begin participation in both the Nigerian Law School and the National Youth Service Corps,NYSC.
Addressing the media, in Abuja ahead of the institution’s convocation coming up on Saturday, NOUN’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdallah Adamu, explained that the temporary suspension does not render previous certificates invalid.
He said the decision was aimed at giving NOUN the opportunity to conclude discussions and negotiation with Council for Legal Education and other relevant government agencies as regards the participation of its graduates in law school.
He also said students currently studying Law will continue with their programme as according to him, the suspension does not affect them.
He said NOUN has received impressive interests from people, following the President’s recent decision to endorse the changes made in its establishment act.
He hinted that NOUN was considering established postgraduate programmes in Law, to give opportunity to its law graduates to acquire further education, pending the conclusion of the negotiation with relevant government agencies and approval to enroll in law school
Meanwhile, the VC has announced that no fewer than 20, 799 students would be awarded various class of degree at its 8th convocation scheduled to hold in Abuja this weekend.
Out of the figure, 15,642 candidates are undergraduates, out of which 103 students made first class. 5,157, he added, are postgraduate students.
He claimed the figure is highest single graduation of students in a single year in any Nigerian university. He disclosed that Bala Salihu Magaji from the department of Islamic Studies emerged the best graduating student.
