Lobi face crunch time against Sundowns

Lobi Stars  face a daunting task today when they battle Mamelodi Sundowns  in Match Day Five of the Caf  Champions League  group stage.

The Nigerians won the first leg 2-1 thanks to goals from Yaya Kone and Mathias, however, the return leg is a crucial one as they must avoid defeat to stand a chance of qualifying.

Th is is the second time these teams will be  meeting and victory for the South Africans would mean that Lobi Stars are one leg out of the championship. Pitso Mosimane has discussed                what the effect of a midweek loss has to their title challenge, although stating that they have a more important encounter today against Lobi.

However, despite the race for the Absa Premiership league title heating up, Sundowns will have to turn all their attention to this weekend’s CAF Champions League encounter against Lobi Stars at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

“It’s bigger than this one,” Mosimane said.

Speaking to the media, Mosimane discussed their Champions League run, while admitting that he was not too worried about last night’s Absa Premiership result and what it did to their title challenge.

“We still have eight games; we are (getting) there, no one is going to win eight games in a row. I think Cape Town City might win the league also, why not? They put themselves in the pool so I wish them all the luck to win the league,” Mosimane told the media.

“But, we have a bigger game hey, a national agenda that one, it puts a star on top of the badge hey,” he added, as Sundowns look to secure a win over Lobi Stars this weekend to make their trip to Morocco stress-free.

“No, they are experienced,” Mosimane said when asked about having to pick up his side’s confidence after a midweek defeat.

“They know that they have to turn the volume on, on Saturday, different game, Nigeria is going to sit in like the way Bloemfontein parked the bus.

“It’s a big one, if you win this one you don’t have to win in Wydad to go through, it’s a big one,” he added.
