Founder, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, Dr. Ola Adebogun has been honoured with a title: ‘Garkuwan Matassan Arewa'(protector of Youths) and the medal: ‘General” of educational development in Nigeria by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
According to NYCN, the award was presented in recognition of his immense contribution to educational development in Nigeria.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, the President of the Northern Youth Forum, Comrade Isah Abubakar, represented by Hon. Sadiq Abdulkareem said: ”The award is a result of Dr. Adebogun’s unalloyed commitment to the educational growth and dedication in supporting youths across Nigeria.”
He said that the awardee has supported many youths with various levels of scholarships irrespective of their states of origin, adding that he was a detribalized person.
”His detribalized nature and unwavering support to the cause of youth empowerment and educational advancement endeared him to the Council,” he said.
He also pointed out that the enviable position of Caleb University as role model in tertiary education and its sound academic programmes were some of the reasons for the award.
Through Adebogun’s benevolence and scholarship schemes which he made available for the less privilege, Comrade Abubakar reiterated that his contributions has helped many youths in Nigeria gain access to world class education.
Abubakar equated the efforts of Adebogun to that of the first prime minister of an independent Nigeria, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa who worked tirelessly to make life better for his people and for the independence of Nigeria.
In his remark, the Ag Vice Chancellor, Caleb University, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie who led other principal officers of the University to receive the award on behalf of the founder, lauded the leadership of NYCN for the recognition.
He urged the youths to uphold good ideas, discipline, humility, focus, selflessness, moral uprightness, godliness, patriotism and hard work which he described as the hallmark of the founder.
