Lyon vs Barca: Suárez keen to end unwanted record

Luis Suarez has a very clear personal objective for the match against Lyon tonight: score a goal. It’s been more than three years since the striker has scored an away goal in the Champions League and that won’t have escaped his attention. His last goal came in a 1-1 draw against Roma

Against Valladolid the Uruguayan had one of his worst performances of the season for Barça. Despite starting as a substitute, he ended up missing three one-on-ones.

The lack of goals from Suarez means more pressure is being put on Messi to deliver. The injury to Dembele, who was in fantastic form, has only creased the burden on the little Argentine magician. Messi ultimately scored the penalty which gave Barça all three points against Valladolid.

Barça need Suarez to discover his scoring touch, particularly if they are to lift the Champions League. The last time he did this the club won the competition in 2015. On that edition, he scored important away goals against Manchester City and PSG.
