Peace Corps: NANS urges President Buhari to assent Bill

The National Association of Nigerian Students has
appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to
quickly assent to the passage of the bill for the
enactment of an act to establish the Nigerian Peace
Corps.
The National president of the association, Comrade
Aruna Kadiri, made this appeal during a press
briefing yesterday.
Aruna stated that if the bill was assented by the
President, the unemployment situation bedevilling
the Nigerian youths will reduce as the bill will go a
long way to adequately empower, develop and
provide alternative employment for the Nigerian
youth.
He added that it will increase the culture of peace
among Nigerians, including the spirit of
volunteerism,nationalism, patriotism, communicate
service and national building.
Still on the benefits of the bill, Kadiri stated that the
Peace Corps will train and equip youths in Nigeria
with knowledge for peace education, conflict
mediation, intervention, reconciliation and confident
building adding that they will be deploy to all tertiary
institutions, secondary schools and primary schools
to maintain law and order, curb drug abuse and
cultism in schools.
